   i know very basic (solid state) looking, but close to the original and i allready exceed the poly limit a bit (about 200), landing gears could be killers.also the nozzels for the trusters eating up a lot of polys because i want to have the right shading on them, which means they have to be doubled in one or another way

      |  | it's understood   of course i have a lot to learn, as arn statet and if one is not to selfish, he can allways learn
   i have to add that the first two of my models (viper&courier) wasn't originally created for FFED3D they are just conversions of some models i did for a racing game mod (really!), cause i knew i would have not much time to work on one with the demo of 3ds max. i'm a construction worker and 3500$ are more then i earn in one month
   but the courier/trader is a cutie to me
 
   i thought about a different texture but in the end i left it as i planned them before. especially those plates, give me sometimes a headake, i remember when i was a boy i showed once a drawing of a spaceship to my father, he said "nice, but why these plates, and if they are somekind of armour, then they should be real segments". "aha, thanks paps". he had allways such straight logic suggestions, like "speceships don't need to have a streamlined shape, they will have a more technical or purpose bound shape, look at the existing ones". "but the're not cool paps". of course he would have said: "camouflage, are you kiddin'?". "but paps, that's cool"
 personally i would prefere a completely chromed version of the courier (you know, the reflective armour
  ). overall i would like to give my ships a more "organic" style and i think i'm on the right path (think of the waving tail of the original turner class, easy to imagine somekind of animal/machine mix). blender works well for me now and i don't have to be in a hurry

 by the way, i want to open a "side project" of ffed3d, because i had the idea to build lego models for ffed3d, and it went really to my head to recreate ffed3d in a complete lego style. is that plain with you at elie-games? do i have your permission to open a side project and attract people for a lego-ffed3d.

 seen when you docked at the stations.I was referring to you post in the bug section and if anyone had got it to work.

      |  | добавлено спустя 8 минут: not really, you have to hack ffed3d to replace the font, usually it does no difference to the game (except cosmetics). but you know some characters are displayed wrong (special frontier symbols) when you use a OS font instead of FFE's built in bitmap font.
 
 to revive the original character distribution of ffe a new "non OS compliant" TT font has to be made based upon the character distribution table i did, to put in windows font folder and afterwards it can be called by ffed3d for the use as bitmapfont replacement.
 
 suggestion;
 programers, of course could make a ingame translation table for the use of any WinOS font. could be called by command line option (i.e. -ofnt(use ffe original) -nfnt (use new) -fname -fsize (if new))?
 maybe some might like a klingon font for ffed3d

 remember my fonts thread? i did one but some characters have allready been changed in FFED3D
  so u can't use ü (5Bh) and ß (5Dh)they have been replaced with the square brackets [] as marker instead of the special square (81h). maybe after all the bitmap font should have never been changed or rather be replaced internally with a 100% FFE compliant font.
 
 further i suspect that the general disabling of landing gear animations (restricted submodel use), leads to a not use of all other submodels, if the previous submodel is not activated. it shows in the game like this; no missiles = no submodels at all, no ecm = no naval ecm, no fuel scoop = no labels. this is somewhat annoying, submodel call would be better disabled in original command of the FFE model rather than by FFED3D. caused to that models without missile pylons will have no submodels at all!
 anyone has an idea where (or what) i have to look for in FFED3D to fix that?
