any chance targeting tunnels will make into the next build too?

Anyways, I droped by to ask another question. Started working on some textures for the lanner, then it came to mind that I actually don't know how big you'd like them. I started with 1024*1024, but it's nothing fancy so far, I can still make it smaller...

I just registered to congratulate you all on a fantastic job. FFE D3D is shaping up to be the best FFE version (and indeed space sim in general) to hit us all since JJFFE.

All your fantastic efforts are very much appreciated and I am very much looking forward to seeing more of your marvelous work.

I have tried working through the Russian language threads (using Google translate) and can gather that a new version of FFE D3D is in the making. I have also found all the work in progress model downloads and have most of them working in the game correctly now. They are looking FANTASTIC!!!

Is there any set date for the new release? And also is there any list of included improvements in the new version?

Once again thank you very much for this gem you are making.

By the way ... is there any way to change the key mapping in FFE D3D? I am on a laptop and would very much like to use W,A,S,D as thrusters instead of the numeric pad 7,8,9,5. Is this possible?

Only.. now.. you can buy (or made) the additional usb-attachment(?) to the keyboard.

Yeah UncleBob ... saw that one and tried also to no avail ... hmmm ... is FFE D3D based on JJFFE? Future maybe? Anyways it sure would be nice with remapping them keys.

Looking very good UncleBob ... super work! I looked a bit closer at that inverted elite-scanner-like thingy on the left 'wing' and wondered if maybe the shadow/lighting was the wrong way until I realised that it was embedded within the wing and not sitting on top of it ... then I got that 'whowwww niiice' kind of thought ... One suggestion about texturing.
Look at this ship. It's exterior looks like set of plating tiles.
But if you look closely at it, you'll notice that the blue marker line proving that your initial guess is wrong and it is all single solid plate.
I suggest putting the marker line "under" shadows at the edges of plating tiles.

Actually it is under the shadowing. The whole surface is merged together, including the paintjob, and then a Bump-Map baked into it. I noticed the phenomenon you're naming too, and I'll have to see if I can get it better.
thanks for the compliments everyone. I was actually pretty surprised at how good she looks too. My Wife showed me quite a usefull Photoshop trick for applying structures to layers. Улыбка

Ship Display Problems

As some of the ships were not designed to be flown by the player, the original programmers did not bother to correctly size them. So when you load one of these ships into the game, they are so large that they wipe out the display on the Ship's Equipment Page.

This problem can be permanently fixed by entering the correct display values, called zoom, into the executable file.

I use a hex editor to input the new values. The following hex values are already reversed and ready for entry into the file. Not all versions are the same, so ensure the stock hex value is there before you change it to the new hex value. You may find it desirable to apply this to your FFED3D Master File so that it will be correct for future ffed3d.exe patches.

Once these values are in, the ships will display at the correct size.

Next you can also rename each of the ships from Unknown to a New Name if desired. I offer some names which also describe the ship type, and are all seven characters long to fit the available space for them.

Note that the FFED3D version lists the same Hex address for ships 31 and 32. Thus a flag pointer bit has been changed in error for ship 31. It should point to C33C7. I do not know the location of this flag bit. I provided the coding for the JJFFE version so that you could see the correct entries. I also have an updated ffed3d.exe v112.b with the correct zoom entries on my Utilities page at:

Hi Everyone

I am the admin from SpaceSimCentral.com and I wanted to extend an offer to host files and create a FFED3D area on SSC for people to use. I know at times it can be difficult to find the info and files needed to get things working or get the ships models you are looking for.

I just wanted to get some permission from the community here to host some files if that is alright? FFED3D is a great project and just want to get it noticed by more people.

I will post again when I have things all set for people to use.

Any links that can be given to models or essential files for FFED3D would be appreciated and I will make sure everything gets added. I have a few things now and I already made a complete package with all patches added for FFED3D and just now need to get most of the models and other things added.
