What RocksV2!

Team Fortress type games

The mod "what_rocksv2" is an further expansion to the "I-War2, Edge of Chaos" multiplayer game with
new scripts and ships allowing you to play strategically orientated class based team Games.
The mod presents 4 new game types and a total of 6 different games that can be played on 7 new maps.

New features include destroyable stations, special "Engineer" and "Sniper" ships, a function to
reload and repair your ship by docking to your base. Many of the weapons and missiles introduced
in what_rocksv1 have been further improved and new ones made including visual and acoustical effects.

Language:

What rocksv2 can be used with any language version of the original "I-War2, Edge of Chaos" .

The Mod will not work properly with game versions below F14.6 and can not be installed on earlier
versions of the game.

Installing the Mod:

Please do not put this mod in the mods folder.

Installation:

If you have what_rocksv1 properly installed:

Rename your existing what_rocks folder to: what_rocksv1.
Open the folder what_rocks v1 and double click the batch file "deinstall_what_rocksv1".
Copy the new (v2) what_rocks into your eoc directory and rename it to: what_rocks.
Jump to step 3 below.

If you do not have what_rocks v1 installed:

1.) After you have downloaded the file as noted above, open the unzipped folder and copy the whole
folder "what_rocks" into your Edge of Chaos directory (that is where the other files are
like: resource, configs bin, etc)

2) Still in your IWar2-Edge Of Chaos Folder:

You will see a file named flux. (Make a back up of this file somewhere else first).
Open flux with an editor (notepad) and change the search_path section under [FcResourceManager]
so that it look like this:

[FcResourceManager]
search_paths[0] = .\what_rocks
search_paths[1] = .\resource
search_paths[2] = .\streams

Save and close the flux.

(Note: It is important that "what_rocks" have first priority. Otherwise the mod will not run
properly. If you have previously added additional search_paths you will need to change the priority
numbers in "search_paths[ ]" in chronological order.

3.) Open the what_rocks folder in your Edge Of Chaos directory and double click the batch file named
"install_what_rocksv2" . The batch file will import the new maps and the new ships
(the original maps and ships will be backed up for you). If you are interested in details about
the batch file, see item 7 below.

4.) Implementing the key binds in the default.ini:

!! Do not change the file "defaults.ini" in your main EOC directory !!

Open the folder configs and locate the file default. (Make a back up copy of it for
safety) Open the original file
Cut and paste the following into the default.ini file at the bottom of it:

[Multiplayer.Engineer]
Keyboard, G

[Multiplayer.Health]
Keyboard, H

The keys H and G are not used by the original game, If you haven't previously assigned these
two keys ( for another mod) you can leave them as above. Otherwise, assign the keys you wish
to use by replacing G and/or H above

Good Work!....

Now you're done and you can 'Have More Fun' with Iwar2 - Edge Of Chaos Multiplayer!

For general information including server settings and for specific game rules and features
please read the documents in the Folder: Readme/English in the what_rocks directory.

There, you will also find specific details about the different games in a seperate document
supplied for each game.

NOTES:

5.) If you host a server using the what_rocksv2 mod please indicate the mod version in your Host
name (i.e "mygame [WR-MOD2]"). Other players will appreciate that.

What Rocks v2 has no influence on the Single Player game and is compatible with all known single player
mods available to date.

You cannot Play To play a multiplayer game in the original version:
Open what_rocks and double click the batch file "de-install_what_rocksv2". that will remove all the
modded files from your game and restore the original files.
You may run the batch files "install..." and "de-install" multiple times.

6.) De-installation of what_rocks:
To completely de-install the mod, open the what_rocks folder and double click the file:
"deinstall_what_rocksv2". The batch file will remove all of the "what-rocks" maps and
ships from your original games folders and restore the originals.
Remove the entry to your flux.ini file (item 2 above) and delete the folder "what_rocks".

7.) Why a batch file? Why can't I just drop it in the mods folder?

On initialisation of the Multiplayer game the server application will only access the files for ships
and maps if they are in the resource folder. It cannot access files located in the mod folder as used
for the single play game. The server will follow a designated search path to find other (modded) files
if a search path is prioritised in the flux.ini (as described in step 2 above).

The batch file included in this mod will copy the modded ships, maps and packages to the appropriate
resource folder. The majority of the moded files remain in the what_rocks folders.

Additionally the batch file will temporarily remove the original multiplayer ships, maps and
package.ini files from the original game and relocate them to a backup folder.
This is done per a DOS "move" command, which has the advantage that no files are deleted or copied.
You will find the backups in the folders: what_rocks/backups/ships/multiplayer, what_rocks/backups/maps
and what_rocks/backups/packages

Also, the batch file recognizes the language you used to install the original game and automatically
selects the correct text files.
Note: what_rocksv2 does not change any of the original games text files.

The batch file solution provided is a simple convenience for you and also allows you to use
what_rocks mod as a Client and to host a game (as a server) without having to make any changes.

The Batch file uses several test routines to insure that it cannot disrupt your original game and
cannot be executed in the wrong directory.
Therefore: You may run the batch files "install..." and "de-install" multiple times without
any adverse effects.

SoupDragon spent lots of time motivating us and also during Beta tests.

Special Appreciation: Carl Birkinshaw of Particle Systems, Carl designed the original MP game and
without his foresight and ground work we could have never made this mod to be what it is.

Thanks to: Stephen Robertson of Particle Systems for his support to us and to the whole mod community.

Also thanks to all the others for their diligence and patience during many hours spent helping us
test the beta versions. We hope you had as much fun as we did
