What Rocks Version 2!

Team Fortress type games

The mod "what_rocksv2" is an expansion to the "I-War2, Edge of Chaos" multiplayer game with
new scripts and ships allowing you to play strategically orientated class based team Games.
The mod presents 4 new game types and a total of 6 different games that can be played on 7 new maps.

New features include destructable stations, special "Engineer" and "Sniper" ships, and you can
reload and repair your ship by docking to your base. Many of the weapons and missiles introduced
in what_rocksv1 have been further improved and new ones made including visual and acoustical effects.

What rocksv2 can be used with any language version of the original "I-War2, Edge of Chaos" .

Installing the Mod:

(Please do not put this mod in the mods folder.)

If you have version 1 of what_rocks installed, please do the following:

Rename your existing what_rocks folder to: what_rocksv1.
Open the folder what_rocksv1 and double click the batch file "deinstall_what_rocksv1".
Copy the new what_rocks (version 2) into your eoc directory.
Jump to step 3 below.

If you do not have version 1 of what_rocks installed:

1.) After you have downloaded the file, open the unzipped folder and copy the whole
folder "what_rocks" into your Edge of Chaos directory (that is where the other files are
like: resource, configs bin, etc)

2) Still in your IWar2-Edge Of Chaos directory:
You will see a file named flux. (Make a back up of this file somewhere else first).
Open flux with notepad (or a text editor) and change the search_path section under [FcResourceManager]
so that it look like this:

[FcResourceManager]
search_paths[0] = .\what_rocks
search_paths[1] = .\resource
search_paths[2] = .\streams

Save and close the flux.

(Note: "what_rocks" needs first priority. If you have previously added
additional search_paths please change the numbers [ ] in chronological order.)

3.) Now open the what_rocks folder in your Edge Of Chaos directory and double click the Install file
"install_what_rocksv2". The new files will be imported and the existing files will be backed up
for you. (For details about what the install file does, see item 7 below.

4.) Implementing the key binds in the default.ini:
Open the folder configs and locate the file default. (Make a back up copy of it for
safety) Cut and paste the following 4 lines into the default.ini file, at the bottom of it:

[Multiplayer.Engineer]
Keyboard, G

[Multiplayer.Health]
Keyboard, H

(The keys H and G are not used by the original game, If you haven't previously assigned these
two keys ( for another mod) you can leave them as above. Otherwise, assign the keys you wish
to use by replacing G and/or H above)

Good Work!....

Now you're done and you can 'Have More Fun' with Iwar2 - Edge Of Chaos Multiplayer!

(Note: you do not have to activate the mod in Extras, It will run automagically)

For game descriptions, rules and general information concerning game features and Server settings
please see the folder what_rocks/Readme/English.

What Rocks v2 has no influence on the single player game and is compatible with all known single player
mods available to date.

NOTES:

5.) If you host a server using the what_rocksv2 mod please indicate the mod version in your Host
name (i.e "mygameWR-v2"). Other players will appreciate that. (Players that do not have the
mod installed will be rejected by the server.)
To play or host a multiplay game in the original version you will need to temporarily deactivate
the mod: Open what_rocks and double click "deinstall_what_rocksv2"to remove all the
modded files from your game and restore the original files. (To restore the mod double click the
File "install_what_rocksv2". )

6.) De-installation of what_rocks:
To completely de-install the mod, open the what_rocks folder and double click the file:
"deinstall_what_rocksv2". All of the "what-rocks" maps and ships will be removed and your
original files restored.
Remove the entry to your flux.ini file (item 2 above) and delete the folder "what_rocks".

7.)Why can't I just drop it in the mods folder like in the single play game?

On initialisation, the Multiplayer game server application cannot access files located in the mod
folder as used for the single play game.

The install file included in this mod will copy the modded ships, maps and packages to the appropriate
resource folder. The majority of the moded files remain in the what_rocks folders.

Additionally the install file will temporarily remove your existing multiplayer files from the
original game and relocate them to a backup folder.
(Per a DOS "move" command thus preventing possible copy errors).
You will find the backups in the folders: what_rocks/backups/ships/multiplayer, what_rocks/backups/maps
and what_rocks/backups/packages

Language recognition:
The install file uses the document "readme_english.html" located in your EOC directory to
recognize the Language. If you receive an error Message: "language not established"
you may have unintentionally deleted that readme.
To fix this, use notepad to make a text file, write the Word "Readme" in it, save it
and then rename it to: readme_english.html. Then run the install file again.

Note: what_rocksv2 does not change any of the original games text files.

SoupDragon spent lots of time motivating us and also during Beta tests.

Special Appreciation: Carl Birkinshaw of Particle Systems, Carl designed the original MP game and
