Q: Where can I find faction\deadspace\officer modules?
A: Look at the bottom of fitting panel located on the left side of main window. There are a four buttons allowing you to see any module category. You can select multiple categories at once by holding <CTRL> when clicking them.

Q: Some of the skills are missing in the EFT. Why?
A: EFT database includes only those skills which affect ship fitting or required by any modules.

Q: What is Effective hitpoints and why this value differs from effective hp shown in ingame fitting screen?
A: Effective hitpoints is an amount of damage required to break through given shield, armor and structure buffers with their respective resistances. By default EFT uses average resistance while ingame effective hps calculated using lowest resistance.

Q: What is the Rating value shown for some setups?
A: Rating should be used to find out most effective ratio between maximizing hitpoint buffer and maximizing ship's firepower for currently prevailing fitting principle of buffer tanking ships. In one on one fight between two buffer tanked ships one with higher rating should win (of course provided similar weapon tracking conditions for both sides). It is also possible to sum the ratings of all ships in the group to get the estimate of fight outcome against another group of buffer tanked ships. Exact formula is: Rating = (EHP*DPS)^0.5

Q: Can I simulate effects of electronic warfare or remote boosting in EFT?
A: Setups window has Projected Effects button which opens list of external effects affecting your setup. You can drag there any module or drone which has some kind of remote effect either from fitting panel or from another setups window. In latter case all ship and skill bonuses will also apply.

Q: How do I update EFT to newer version?
A: Download and extract newer version archive to some location, then copy "Characters" folder, "Setups" folder, "config.ini" and "Favorites.dat" files from old EFT folder to new one.

Q: How to configure EFT to use proxy?
A: By default EFT uses system-level proxy settings (configurable in Windows Control Panel > Internet Options). If you wish to override that you can add "Proxy_Server=ProxyServerName" and "Proxy_Port=ProxyPortNumber" lines to the "config.ini" file in EFT folder. If the proxy server you are using requires authorization it is possible to specify username and password in EFT Preferences.

Q: Is the EFT open source?
A: It isn't and not planned to be.
