Hello everyone!

First of all: there are some rules of communication, everyone should respect:
1. Treat others (even opponents) with respect and patience, behave with dignity - you gonna like this way of talking after some practice
2. Treat people as you'd like to be treated.
3. Dirty slang and its "substitutes", insults (even hidden) are not acceptable in any form and, thus, are forbidden. As well as abundance of speach patterns, with lots of idiomatical expressions - not everyone is fluent in English.

So, welcome to the conference.

Here you can ask questions about FFE D3D project, offer your help (now is a GREAT NEED in 3d modelers) or ideas how to improve the game.

For now, the project is in preBeta version. There are known and unknown bugs, uncompatibles with some hardware ets. So if you find something, that doesn't work properly, you can post it here.

IF you have been reading the Frontier fourm you will have seen a few people have had problems with Vista so any help with that would be much appreciated.Works great on xp

Yes of course! It will be protected and licensed only for EG-members.

There are so many things that must be done... In the meantime DreamZzz are creating a new engine, in fact (new graphics, LUA scripting etc.). It will be base of all other (new models, new effects, new missions etc.).

I can hear the cease and desist e-mail been typed out now. Гы-гы

There been some problems with icons and frame rate on Vista turning off the aero off and running it in 1280x1024 helps with this.do you know off any other tips?.

I guess anyone with a specific problem needs to post here.

got some questions about the game.

In the models folder there are lot empty folder,what are they for?.

Can the music and fx be changed?.like in Ad-Astra or would it effect the game.

can the background be changed on the stockmarket ect screens?.

I'm pretty sure that all sounds can be replaced with new ones.
But personally i like most FFE sounds, especially laser sound:) It's quite different compared to generic 'laser' sound in most space-themed games ("piu-piu-piu-...") Подмигиваю

Don't know if I can be any help.
I use to do a lot 3d,but have not done much in the last few years.

I had a look at SparkS,a tutorials very good Супер!

I have started playing around with Blender3D recently so I might have ago at something.

Guys, This is amazing work!! Thankyou, and well done!

I have been trying to replace some building models in the game as well as some of the original ships, but everytime I use my model, it makes a crash.
Even if I export some models from the game, then put them in the correct folders, it still makes a crash.
I am using Blender.Generally I have been importing the .x files, converting them to .obj, importing the .obj then changing the created mesh, ie. SubSurface division + CatamulClark Улыбка Then exporting as .x file.
But always, I still get the crash from FFED3D, anyone have any advice?


P.S.
There was a mod made for First Encounters a few years ago called Anisotrophics mod, made by Anisotrophic. This mod fixed a lot of problems with the game. And also made the game much harder. IIRC the mod also removed the Barards to Sol Robots run., and made Spacetaxi and Military missions more proffitable it also increased Loot from ships too I think.
IMO this mod would be a great addon to what you are trying to create here.

Is it still possible for me to test them in the game without the animation?

For example, to test if the weapons can still fire, or is a problem from the scale of model.

Yes, JJFFE is very cool Улыбка Many problems fixed.

Anisoph mod is like JJFFE, but it also have the Ships.txt file.

The Ships.txt file lets you change gun and turret positions so there are no problems with ship scale.

With 3DMax used plugin "Panda":

Mesh definition, Include Animation, Geometric, Mesh normals, Mapping
coordinates, Binary with Compression, Include Animation options,
Left Handed Axis


Example:

And about inset "animation": animation in the 3DMax = animation in the game. For example - Anim-1 = 0 and 500.
